We are excited to announce the release of Kasten K10 version 6.0, the latest and most advanced version of our industry-leading platform that provides enterprise-grade Kubernetes data protection and application mobility. This release helps customers scale their cloud native data protection efficiently. Kubernetes deployments are growing at an unprecedented rate. Gartner predicts that by 2027, more than 90% of global organizations will be running containerized applications in production. However, today’s market conditions are scarred with financial uncertainty and a shortage of cloud native skills. Therefore, you must ensure operational efficiencies are in place to unleash the full potential of your cloud native environments while protecting your data. Additionally, security remains an imperative as organizations focus on keeping their businesses running. What is Enterprise Backup?

Veeam is proud to release the findings of yet another research project, the 2023 Data Protection Trends Report, which is the industry’s largest independent research on backup and data protection. This research is fully independent, representing the whole market, and not only Veeam customers, and was conducted by a third-party research organization, with no one knowing that Veeam was involved.

For 2023, when an organization was asked about the most common and most important attribute that connotes enterprise backup, the response was the same, which was the backup solution’s ability to support “modern” cloud-hosted workloads, such as IaaS or SaaS. Below we see the full list, with the responses sorted by the most important attributes.

The data indicates that:

  • Priority #1 is protecting IaaS and SaaS, as well as the data center.
  • Priority #2 is reliability; the enterprise backup solution must correctly work every time.
  • Interestingly, past definitions of “enterprise” for backup used to be the ability to scale to handle many servers or a large amount of data, or to protect Unix server, but today these are much less of a consideration compared to the top priorities above.

Note: If you are interested in cloud data protection, we encourage you to download another Veeam research report, 2023 Cloud Protection Trends. Veeam commissioned this report utilizing an independent research firm, which surveyed 1,700 unbiased IT leaders with production workloads that run on cloud services in production or for protection. Those surveyed were asked about their perspectives, methodologies and responsibilities in protecting, securing and managing their cloud‑hosted data.

We hope to connect with you on our LinkedIn Live sessions where we will discuss this and other fascinating results from this research, and remember to download the full report at 2023 Data Protection Trends Report.
